Protocol and instrumentation consistency

All RNA samples were extracted and processed using manufacturer protocols for RNAlater fixation, QIAshredder/RNAeasy kits, and standardized instrument use (NanoDrop, Bioanalyzer, GeneChip), which together minimize technical variation between samples from different flights.
